Types of Encounters[]
When encountering legendary/mythical Pokemon, there are 2 different ways you can encounter them: Static Encounters and Roaming Encounters.
Static Encounters[]
Static Encounters are set encounters where you can have a guaranteed encounter with a Pokemon in a specific place. Once you catch/fail to catch the Static Pokemon and save, you cannot initiate a static encounter for that Pokemon again. Once the Static encounter is over, the Pokemon will turn into a Roaming Pokemon (explanation below).
BEFORE initiating a static encounter, please remember to SAVE and TURN OFF AUTOSAVE. That way, if you fail to catch the static Pokemon or if you're shiny hunting it and the encounter isn't a shiny, you can rejoin and have unlimited attempts to catch the Static Pokemon. |
Roaming Encounters[]
Roaming Pokemon encounters are Pokemon encounters only obtainable by chance. You can encounter a Roaming Pokemon in any place where it is possible to encounter Pokemon. The encounter rate for a Pokemon is the same, no matter where you are. For example, the roaming encounter rate in Gale Forest is the same as the roaming encounter rate in Route 12.
Roaming Pokemon Chances[]
- Roaming Encounter Rate
- Without Ro-Power: 1/1000
- With Ro-Power: 1/250
- Shiny Roaming Encounter Rate
- Without any boosts: 1/2,048,000
- With shiny charm: 1/128,000
- With ONLY Ro-Power: 1/32,000
- With shiny charm AND Ro-Power: 1/16,000
- With shiny charm, Ro-Power, AND weekend shiny boost: 1/10,750
NOTE: The chances for encountering a shiny static Pokemon are the exact same as the chances of encountering a normal shiny Pokemon.
Some Pokemon can't be obtained through a Static encounter and can only be obtained through a Roaming Encounter.
Strategies for Catching Legendary/Mythical Pokemon[]
- It is always recommended to use a quick ball first as soon as you encounter a legendary pokemon, and then use the recommended Pokeballs labeled in each section.
- To increase the chances of catching the Pokemon, ensure that you weaken the Pokemon first by lowering their health and inflicting a status effect, such as sleep or paralysis. DO NOT inflict a status effect that damages the opposing Pokemon overtime. This will put you on a time crunch to catch the Pokemon before it faints.
- Make sure to turn off autosave and save right below initiating a static encounter. That way, you can rejoin to have an unlimited amount of attempts to catch the static Pokemon if you happen to fail. Once you save after catching or failing to catch the Legendary/Mythical Pokemon, you cannot catch that Pokemon through a static encounter again.

After obtaining all 3 Deep Sea Scales, go the Decca Travel Agency in Port Decca
Then, interact with this sailor on the right to exchange the Deep Sea Scales for each of the island's tickets.
Now you have everything you need to travel to the islands where each of the Legendary Birds reside.
After obtaining the tickets, talk to the NPC next to the boat in Port Decca where you can travel to the islands.

Catching Lugia[]
In order to catch Lugia, you must obtain the Silver Wing.
First, ensure you have all 3 of the Legendary Birds in your party (Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos). You must also have a Pokemon with Surf in your party to travel to where Lugia is located. Note: You must beat the 7th Gym and obtain the Surf HM right after entering Port Decca in order to use HM03 - Surf outside of battle.
After that, talk to the Old Man next to the fountain in Cheshma Town
Once you have the Silver Wing, you must travel to Silver Cove. In order to get there, you'll first need to navigate to Rosecove Beach.
Once you get to Rosecove beach, use HM03 - Surf to get on the water and travel under the bridge shown in the screenshot below.
Go into the entrance shown in the screenshot below.
After entering Silver Cove, follow the path all the way to the pedestal at the very end and step on the pedestal.
After stepping onto the pedestal, Lugia will appear and the static encounter with Lugia will be triggered.

Catching Yveltal[]
This is the first Pokemon of the Aura Trio you can catch. You cannot encounter Xerneas nor Zygarde before Yveltal.
Once you have all 8 gym badges, navigate to Route 9 and talk to the Tree History NPC who is standing next to the Yggdrasil Tree, which is the large white tree at the center of the Route.
The NPC will give you the "Secret Key".
Next, you'll want to navigate to the Anthian Sewers and go to the Tree History NPC. From the entrance, simply go through the first tunnel and make a right.
After navigating to the location from the above screenshots, talk to this NPC. He will open the glass door for you, allowing you to enter the door at the end of the chamber which leads you to where Yveltal lies.
After entering Yveltal's Lab, walk to the center. Once you reach the center, the static encounter with Yveltal will be triggered.

After entering the entrance, walk to the center of the map.
When you reach the middle, Xerneas will appear and the static encounter will be initiated.

You will also need a Pokemon with HM06 - Rock Smash for later. (You must have 5 Gym Badges in order to use Rock Smash outside battles).
Obtaining 10% Forme[]
After fighting the other members of the Aura Trio, you must once again talk to the Tree History NPC on Route 9.
Then, you must go inside lab located on the left side of Rosecove Beach (located right in front of Rosecove City.
Talk to the Scientist NPC inside.
After talking to the Scientist NPC, you must enter Glistening Grottos. Navigate to Route 5. Then, use Rock Smash on this rock and follow the path up until you reach the entrance to Glistening Grottos
Navigate to the middle of the map where you will find an entrance surrounded by green crystals.
After entering, you will find Zygarde 10% Forme. Walking to the Pokemon will initiate the static encounter with it.
Obtaining 50% Forme[]
After catching Zygarde 10% Forme, go back to the Scientist NPC in the lab in Rosecove Beach. Talk to the NPC with Zygarde 10% in your party, and the Scientist NPC will give you the option to upgrade Zygarde to it's 50% Forme.
Obtaining Complete Forme[]
After upgrading to 50% Forme, the Scientist will tell you that you must collect all of Zygarde's cells that scattered across the region in order to upgrade Zygarde to its Complete Forme.
Now, you must collect all of the 3 cells WITHOUT REJOINING. Your Zygarde MUST also have the Power Construct ability in order to be upgraded to its Complete Forme.
Below are the locations of the 3 cells you must find. You must click the cells that you find in order to collect them
Cell 1: Right outside the lab on Rosecove Beach:
Cell 2: Inside the River on Route 9
Cell 3: Right outside the entrance to where you fought Zygarde 10% Forme in Glistening Grottos
After obtaining all 3 cells (once again: WITHOUT REJOINING), go back the lab on Rosecove Beach and talk to the Scientist NPC with Zygarde 50% Forme in your party. Your Zygarde should now be in it's Complete Forme.
