How to Romance Ashley Williams

Basic Information

Ashley Williamsis a Companionin Mass Effect 3. She is available for romance and a possible love interest towards a MALE Commander Shepardonly.You can continue or rekindle your relationship with her if you previously had a romance progress and imported your save file in Mass Effect 1. Take note that she must be alive in your playthrough during the events in Mass Effect 1 (Vimire: Assault) or if you are starting a new game, during Character Creation, make sure to choose that Kaidan Alenkowas killed in action instead of her.

Hospital Visits

Everything will start when you are on a mission that is called Priority: Mars. Your goal to start a good conversation with her by gaining her trust since she is highly suspicious of you. When Ashley talks to you about your alliance with Cerberus, answer her with "It was a temporary alliance" and"You know me better than that" during the first scene, while on the second scene with her, choose the dialogues"You think I'm like him?" and "I'm still that guy".

At the end of your mission on Mars, Ashley will be heavily injured where she'll spend most of her time recovering at the Huerta Memorial Hospital on the Citadel. While she is recovering, you can drop by Sirta Supplies in the hospital and purchase The Collected Alfred Tennyson which you can give her later on -your conversations will be more important but giving her the gift will alsoimprove your chances of romancing her, she'll be surprised that you still remember this detail during Mass Effect 1.

While she is resting, visit her as much as you can, go do missions, and wait for her to send you an e-mail, indicating that you can visit her at the hospital. Now, if you were loyal to her and you didn't romance anyone in Mass Effect 2, then you will be able to re-establish your love for her. If ever you did have a romantic sequence with Jack,Miranda, orTali, then you will have the option to choose Ashley over the three that are mentioned.

The Citadel Coup

During the events in Priority: The Citadel II, things will escalate where Udina assists Cerberus in launching a coup against the Citadel Council and you'll have Ashley in helping with escorting the council escape. In this mission, you will have to go pass Trust checks here which determines if Ashley will side with you and also determines if she lives or dies. Check the information below to identify the number of points that can either strengthen or weaken your relationship with her, based on the following sequences and interactions:

• +2 Points if you were able to romance her in Mass Effect 1.
• +1 Point for sparing the council at the end of ME1, while sacrificing the council yields -1 Point
• You get -2 Points if Kirrahe died in ME1, while Thane died in ME2. This causes events where no one is able to stop Kai Lengfrom killing the Salarian Councillor, as well as Udina fabricating footage showing that Shepard is the one killing them instead.
• -1 Point for cheating on Ashley withJack,Miranda, orTaliin ME2.
• You'll get -1 Point as well if you do not apologize to her for cheating.

• If you've accumulated between 0-3, players will need to win her over by passing a reputation check
• If you do not have enough reputation and have accumulated -1 points or less, Ashley refuses to trust you and you'll be forced to kill her. If she dies, your chances of having a relationship and romance sequence with her will automatically be ceased.

Aboard the Normandy

Now, in the event that she does live, you'll be able to meet Ashely again at the Normandy Dock: Bay D24 where you'll find out that she's been offered a job to join Adrimarl Hackett's team but she mentions that she'd rather work with you. This is a crucial moment for you to choose if you want to have a relationship with her:

• Choosing "Welcome Aboard" will allow Ashely to join the crew and she'll play as a Companionwho you can take with on missions.
• If you select "I don't think so", then she'll join Hackett instead and for the entirety of the game (including the Citadel DLC), you won't be able to interact with her.

Inviting her to join your crew and aboard the Normandy progresses things forward into having a relationship with her. And from here, you can start building up that relationship.Ashley doesn't talk a lot on the Normandy, but eventually, Ashley will send an email asking Shepard for help. One of which is when you are about to accompany her in comforting her younger sister Sarah who has lost her husband. Choose comforting and respectful dialogues,and use the Paragon Interrupt, to further strengthen your relationship.

Meeting Ashley on the Citadel

Later on, you will receive another email from her, asking to meet on the Citadel. This is the moment of truth where you choose toLock-In the relationship. Remember that once you choose her, you cannot have another love interest or relationship with others. Upon meeting her on the Citadel, Ashely mentions to Shepard that her dad would have liked him and apologizes for everything that happened between them. Eventually, she will ask if the two of you are "going somewhere". If youanswer her with "Yes", then that seals the deal and the two share a kiss. On the other hand, if you pick"No time for that during a war" or "It's not the right time", you'll permanently reject her.

Events after Locking-in Ashley

Now that you've said Yes to Ashley, you've confirmed that she will be Shepard's love interest for the entirety of the game, meaning you won't be able to have another relationship with anyone else, besides her. One thing to take note of is that there are additional sequences and interactions with Ashely if you own the Leviathan and Citadel DLCs.

Priority: Earth

In the events during the final mission, Priority: Earth, Ashley will visit Shepard in your cabin on the Normandy where the Romance Scene will trigger and you'll have your last moments with her beforethe assault on Cerberus HQ. If players own the Extended Cut, during the final charge to the conduit beam, a Mako will overturn and land dangerously next to her. If Shepard's EMS is1,749 or lower, a Harbinger will vaporize Ashley with the laser beam. On the other hand, if it is1,750 or higher, she will just be injured by the Mako and Shepard calls for an emergency extraction where the two will have their final moments.

Ending with Ashley

After the firing of the Crucible, she will be seen placing Shepard's name on the Memorial Wall. On the other hand,if you picked Destroy and your EMS is 3,100 or more,she will smile and refrain from placing the plaque sensing that Shepard is still alive, and the Normandy is seen flying off.
